Common REASONS WHY STUDENTS FAIL EXAMS

The exam is the most critical point of a student's life. It gives you two different results; Pass or Fail. Passing an exam is the happiest moment of a student's life. On the other hand, Failure is the most crucial moment. The reason behind this failure is usually Laziness, Overconfidence and Lack-of-Interest.

Some students accept these issues, but some blame others, like their teachers, parents, or friends. They usually say, “Teachers don’t teach well” or “Exam is too hard to pass.”. To be brutally honest, the reality is that poor result means the student did not study too well to pass.

Blaming others for failure is just a lame excuse. If you fail due to the teaching of your teacher, then how do other students get passed? The main reasons behind our failure are different from what we think. I can show you the subtle causes of your failure in exams.

1-LAZINESS:

This is on the top of the failure list. Laziness means that your teacher gave you assignments, notes, or other home tasks to prepare, but you feel lazy to do all these tasks.

Some students don’t write notes in class, and even some students don’t like to attend class. They feel it is tough to sit and listen to what their teachers want to teach them.

They find lame excuses to avoid these activities. They prevent it even though they know they could fail in class. Being Lazy is their priority.

SOLUTION:

Try to do your work regularly at the right time and always read more and more books to expand your knowledge.

2-OVER-CONFIDENCE:

The second reason behind exam failure is Over-Confidence. We always listen to “Confidence is key to success” and then how Over-Confidence leads to failure.

The answer is that confidence tells us to be faithful and that we have the ability to study hard and pass the exam. On the other hand, Over-Confidence brings a lousy thought that we pass the exam even if we don’t study.

Overconfident students pick one favourite subject and think they only have to be successful in this particular subject. That’s why they ignore other subjects, which leads them to failure.

SOLUTION:

Try to be confident to learn new things and never stop learning. Focus on your favourite subject but also get enough knowledge to pass the least-favourite exam.

3-LACK OF TIME MANAGEMENT:

“Time is Money,” you always hear this quote. But the fact is that you don’t know how to convert time into money. If you don’t care about time, you don’t care about money.

This is the same rule in the exam. Most failed students have a habit of waiting to complete their assignments until the dying time is coming. When it comes, they have other works to do or some other tasks.

Procrastination or shifting the time to read forward leads to dirty preparation because you don’t have enough time to prepare for your exam correctly.

SOLUTION:

Try to do your assignments before dying time. Make a schedule for study and other activities; this should enhance your time management skills.

4-BAD READING HABITS:

I know some students who don’t like reading books because they feel lazy. It’s because they read when it is not a good time to read and sleep when it is a perfect reading time.

Parents force them to sleep early, but students don’t force themselves to wake up early and read some books. So, they choose to sleep for more time and think about reading books during the night.

The night is made for sleeping. When students try to read at night, they fall asleep in no time. The reason is that there is so dim light at night, which produces laziness in students.

SOLUTION:

Try to wake up early and start reading. Make it your habit and repeat it daily. Teach your mind to read more from the books during the day (before school).

5-WRONG MINDSET:

“You are a winner if you want to be a winner. You are a loser if you accept losing.” People who do not have the mindset of passing an exam fail without any doubt. That is because they do not want to pass.

SOLUTION:

Always consider passing an exam even if there is little probability of passing. A little probability means you have a chance to pass.

6-POOR FINANCE:

A person with poor financial status does not have much confidence in life. A student with poor financial status needs access to recommended material for study.

They try to get an alternative with a low or free price. That is why financially poor students got failed.

SOLUTION:

Try to get a part-time job to cover your finances or do Freelancing for higher pay.

7-TOO MANY ENGAGEMENTS:

Engaging in too many activities should affect your study. It is because you do not have time to rest your brain and body.

When your mind and body feel tired, they want you to sleep or do something else but not study. As I said before, Laziness is the most important cause of failing an exam.

SOLUTION:

Try to engage in fewer activities that are not important. Do not give your precious time to others unnecessarily.

8-GROUP OF FRIENDS:

“Friends can either make or mare you”. The circle we choose to sit in is responsible for our actions. If you have a friend circle who studies wholeheartedly, then 99% chance that you also study hard and get good grades.

Good friends encourage you to study and pass the exam, but bad friends tell you to play with them and fail as they do.

SOLUTION:

Try to make good friends who encourage you to study hard. Leave the lousy circle if you have.

9-NO MENTORS:

In every field of life, people find mentors who do something that they want to do. They ask them how they do it or even ask to teach them. As a student, you must find a mentor who teaches you what you want.

Mostly, teachers are not good mentors for students because they don’t know how to apply knowledge to achieve success. That’s why students fail exams.

SOLUTION:

Be open to an adult mentor to tell him or all your academic problems and ask him/her how to solve them.

10-NO STUDIES OF PAST PAPERS:

Mostly, examiners make the paper from past papers. If you are not good at studying and don’t prepare for past papers, you might fail.

Not reading past papers and blaming your lecturer that he/she didn’t teaching you well is a scam you do with no one but yourself.

SOLUTION:

Prepare past papers of at least five years. These will surely help you to get pass the exam.
